Just a few short months ago, Little Elm experienced a tumultuous election cycle to elect a new mayor and a new council seat in district 5. As most of you know, I was a mayoral candidate, but the end result was not what we hoped for. However, a very positive outcome of the 6 months long campaign was that it was a great learning opportunity in many ways. One of the most important was that I had the opportunity to meet and talk to a lot of Little Elm residents and hear what is important to you. I am still very committed to serving the community and becoming a member of the Town Council in Place 1 is an ideal opportunity to do that. It is an “at large” position that serves the entire town. My goal would be to take what I have learned and partner with the council members representing a specific district to support all Little Elm residents.
My thoughts on some of the things that are important for our town have not changed. “Little Elm must maintain focus on our core responsibilities. Chief among them is public safety and protecting families and property. We must bring quality business to Little Elm that helps grow our commercial tax base and lower the tax burden on local families. And we must maintain the excellent parks and recreation facilities that make Little Elm the huge attraction it is to new residents.”
A little more about me:
Since moving to Little Elm, my wife and I have come to love it and have become active in serving the community in various ways. I serve as President of the Little Elm Economic Development Board, as a Homeowners Association Vice President, member of Box 620 and have graduated from the Little Elm Citizens Government, Police, and Fire Academies. My wife, Jan serves on the Little Elm Community Development Corporation (Park & Recs) board, as well as volunteering with the LEPD Citizens on Patrol and Box 620. She is also a graduate of all 3 of the academies offered by the town.
Some key words or attributes that are important in being a successful councilperson that I bring to the position are:
Strong Collaboration Skills
Ability to Listen
Open to Learning
